Before coming along to a class, people often ask how we 'do drama' with babies. After all, babies can't pretend, they haven't yet developed their imaginations so what's it all about? Well, put quite simply, it's about play!
The benefits of drama and the power of imaginative play are becoming increasingly recognised for their importance in supporting the holistic development of children. As such, many early childhood settings place real value on programs that promote child-led, play-based learning. Our classes are developed with defined learning outcomes to support the National Quality Framework in the most fun and playful way.
At Pyjama Drama our emphasis is on role play and imagination, not performance. Although in many children we see the blossoming of a lifelong love of drama, we're not deliberately setting out to teach the children to be actors and performers. Drama, pretending and role-playing is instinctive and has many, many benefits. At Pyjama Drama our emphasis is clear - developing skills for life!
